Really friendly and accommodating owners. Really felt a personal service was given to us and they went the extra mile to make sure we had a great stay. The hotel was great with lovely big rooms, great dining area with a delicious meal served. Great breakfast too. Would highly recommend staying here, we will definitely be back!

Tips:

Things to do nearby - hills! It’s a fantastic location for all of the hills in Glencoe or heading round the Oban road to catch some there like we did. It’s also very handy for hills further north near fort William.

I just love coming to this place. Claire was so lovely and has made some amazing changes since my last visit. Angela, it was so lovely to meet you and you are a credit to Claire. My room was amazing, fantastic new comfy bed and I had great views of the loch as well! Can't wait for next year to come back :)

Tips:

Head to Glenfinnan viaduct (50 mins drive away) for 10am to get s space and watch the steam train cross over the bridge before 11am!

We had one of the lovely superior rooms on the ground floor - it is very tastefully decorated and comfy, and clearly they've put a lot of effort into making the whole premises COVID safe. The bar / lounge area is lush, it's wonderful to sit in there with a drink and a book, enjoying the views of Loch Linnhe. They have lots of whiskies and all the knowledge about them. They served dinner during our stay and the meals were absolutely lovely, proper homemade food. Breakfast is satisfactory. We had a lovely stay.

Tips:

There's a lovely beach opposite the lodge. Black Isle Bar in Fort William is highly recommended. Good walks around Kinlochleven and of course Ben Nevis!

Clare the proprietor and her staff make you feel at home, the moment you walk through the door. All the Covid 19 regulations are in place and all guests staying at the hotel adhered to the instructions. This was our second stay and with the Covid regs, there are two seating times to choose from for breakfast 0800hrs or 0845hrs. The breakfast is excellent and is brought to your table, endless tea/coffee. The hotel offers a home cooked evening meal if required, and the cosy bar is well laid out for social distancing. Our bedroom was excellent and well laid out. The WIFI signal was great and there is wide choice of digital tv channels. We would certainly stay there again, as it’s ideally located to explore the Glen Coe area and North to Fort William.

Tips:

Highly recommend the The Laroch Restaurant and Bar in the village of Ballachulish. Well worth doing the Glencoe Lochan Trail walk. Also the Inchree Falls walk.

This is really an exceptional place, which is run like a family home. The rooms are spotlessly clean and have all the amenities. The breakfast is all you need to start a day and the whisky bar in the lounge is well stocked up.

Tips:

The guest house is located between Glencoe and Fort William. Buses are not very frequent, so check the timings. You can walk to Ballachulish or Inchree waterfall (or even Glencoe if you are a good walker).

Our 2 night stay couldn’t have been more perfect! Clare & the team went over & above to be helpful, taking our sodden walking gear to dry in their boiler room, moving us to a double rather than a twin bed room & helping with whisky recommendations! Coming back at the end of busy days hiking to sit in the lounge and relax with the most amazing view from the large picture windows was just wonderful! We chose full Scottish breakfast served in a fabulous dining room, all super Covid friendly, (everyone in the Lodge was super careful re their Covid precautions which was reassuring) Yes we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend, or return again. THANK YOU!

Tips:

Full Whisky bar & knowledge of team Comfortable lounge & bar to relax Great breakfasts & dinner options Comfortable bed & great Loch & mountain views Reassuring Covid precautions Great friendly helpful staff Near to so many walks & attractions

Very satisfied with our stay.

Amazing staff, Great service, Extremely clean, Fantastic homely atmosphere, Wonderful setting, Great food, Warm homely feeling in the lounge/bar area, Best Scottish Whiskeys/Spirits, Wish we were closer, Best B&B we've ever been to

Tips:

Get your walking boots on and go and explore. You can visit local waterfalls such as Inchree(5 minutes away)and Steall waterfall. The gondola up Ben Nevis is a must, something no one would ever forget. The peak shows a wonderful panoramic view of Fort William. Also take time to admire the talented mountain bikers who ride the natural and professional track of Ben Nevis. The home cooked food at the lodge is wonderful and fresh and made to order, but if you fancy a meal out have a look in the local area prior to coming, book in advance. Our recommendations are The Old Inn (20 minutes away) which does fantastic and highly recommended Steak, plus The Laroch (5 minutes away) which is the local pub. There are many places to go to throughout your stay this may include, Oban (only 1 hour away), which has plenty of fantastic harbour food. Skye, which has tones of unimaginable views and is only a 30 minute ferry crossing from Oban (book online in advance), also try the local chippies in Skye and also Mull, it will be the freshest fish you will have ever tasted. Enjoy your stay. You won't be disappointed! We're coming back 100%!

23rd August 2020:

Claire, Angela and the other staff are very friendly and helpful. The lodge is wonderful, with an amazing bar and loch view. Breakfast was very tasty, and lovely bar meals could be ordered if we didn't want to go back out in the evenings. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable and our room had the most wonderful views of the loch. We were very lucky with the weather, with warm sunshine for the whole week. One of our favourite holidays, that has left us with very fond memories.

Tips:

Claire's meals are excellent, but we also ate at The Lodge on the Loch, (6 mins walk) and The Ballachulish Hotel (30 mins walk, over the bridge). We didn't eat at the Onich Hotel (18-20 mins walk) but we had drinks on the decking, overlooking Loch Linnhe. The cafe at the visitor centre (also a shop) in South Ballachulish over the bridge, does good lunches and it's close to the start of the Brecklet Trail walk. The Jacobite steam railway is definitely worth the money (Fort William to Mallaig return) but book in advance as it books up quickly. Oban is worth a visit, although the distillery was closed due to Covid. We did some lovely walks - Inchree Waterfalls, The Brecklet Trail and Corpach Basin to Neptune's Staircase (8 consecutive locks on the Caledonian Canal). If you time it right you can see the Jacobite go past. Glencoe village is really pretty and there are short walks from there too. Glenfinnan Viaduct is impressive and you can see the Jacobite go past from various view points (the viaduct used for filming Harry Potter). It also has a visitor centre and a monument to the Jacobite rising. It's a beautiful area to explore!

A perfect place to stay and enjoy the true hospitality of Scottish people. Glen Coe is a short drive down the road which is perfect for Munro baggers. Great food at the lodge itself or a short walk away

We had a lovely stay at Creag Mhor Lodge. The welcome and service was excellent and the team went beyond expectation with their support to a recent injury I had acquired. The house itself is gorgeous inside and out with a wonderful spacious lounge area and beautiful large and comfortable bedrooms. The views from the house are just spectacular! Given the recent global pandemic, the team have made adjustments to the lodge and processes to provide enhanced safety without losing any comfort or quality of your stay. We had a short but restful stay and would definitely return. A big thank you to the team for a wonderful stay!

Thank you for the lovely stay at Creag Mhor Lodge. The room upgrade was very kind of yous to do - and the view from the room was stunning. Id reccommemd booking a room with a loch view, it is worth it. The food was very good and served at convient times. We ate both breakfast and bar meals in the evening. Thank you for going out your way to accomodate my vegetarian friend. Overall, the servuce we recieved was great and everyone was so friendly - it really made our trip. Thanks for being so kind and helpful.

Tips:

We were told to visit the inchree waterfalls, which was near by to the B&B. There is a car park at it if you have a car. It is a short walk to see the waterfall but it is very nice and worth to see since so close to the place. I'd also suggest making a visit to it while you stay at Creag Mhor Lodge.

Sadly we were only able to spend 1 night at the Creag Mhor, but we will DEFINITELY return. Our room was amazing and the location was unbelievable. Directly on the Loch with an amazing view, the location left nothing to be desired. It's close enough to towns that you don't feel totally isolated, but removed enough to feel like you're retreating when you come in for the day. Unfortunately I can't remember the owners name but she was very kind and welcoming. Tons of tips and suggestions for places to go, eat and explore. She was very accommodating for us. Even though we had to leave before breakfast, she packed us a to go bag with snacks and such. Very hospitable. Highly Recommend!

We did dinner at the Ben Nevis Inn. A little bit of a drive but completely worth it! The food and staff were amazing, and it's located in an old barn nestled beneath Ben Nevis! We hiked the North Face of Ben Nevis trail and would definitely recommend the views were absolutely breath taking! Take it easy on the road in to the parking lot. Some serious potholes there!

Tips:

Allow time to relax in the lounge by the fire. It is a fantastic and cozy place with fantastic staff who make you feel right at home. If you like hiking get advice from the staff about where to park for the Steall Falls hike. It’s a beautiful trail. Stay at this lodge if you are able to get a booking. Book early and pay extra for the rooms at the front. They are huge with magnificent views. If you don't manage to get one there is a lounge/bar downstairs with lovely views to sit in.

Great location, accompanied our family of 7 in 2 rooms. Exudes old charm, and a fantastic breakfast. We enjoyed the small bar and real fire in the entry parlor. We ate dinner in Fort Williams which is just down the road.

From the moment we arrived, Clare made the 3 of us feel very welcome. That continued throughout our all too short stay. The whisky bar/ lounge area are very comfortable and the view is breathtaking. Clare, ably assisted by Mary were very attentive and called us by out names from the moment we arrived until our departure. Range of whiskies is extremely impressive. Breakfast was excellent with a very wide selection of hot and cold items. My cousins from Canada were blown away by the location and service. So much so that they are going to ask their travel agent in New Brunswick to put Creag Mhor on their list of must see places in Scotland. 3 more Canadian cousins are coming over next summer and we'll be back then.

23rd June 2019:

A beautiful old Manor House with original features including a creaky staircase, loved it! Lovely big room with fabulous views across the loch to the mountains. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom Had a large shower enclosure. Not too keen on the opaque glass on the bathroom door though, bit more privacy would be better, in my opinion. A good selection of tea and coffee were supplied along with some biscuits, a nice little touch for guests. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice from cereals to typical Scottish cooked food. Staff were very attentive and helpful. There is a huge sitting room and bar area, very welcoming and somewhere to meet with other guests. A special mention to the owner, Clare, so friendly and warm, always on hand and nothing was too much trouble for her. Really made for an excellent stay. It’s about 10 mile drive into Fort William itself where there are lots of restaurants and shops. We were very unlucky with the weather, constant rain, so didn’t walk around the town for long. We would definitely recommend the hotel.

Tips:

We were booked on the Jacobean Train to Mallaig. It’s costly and we found we could have got the normal train for much less money. First class seats were very comfy but view is obscured a lot by trees along the route. Stunning scenery otherwise. We found a beautiful restaurant in the Crafts & Things gift shop and tea room, just outside Glencoe village, about five minutes from the hotel. Lovely food, and the staff were so friendly. Well worth a visit even just to look at the array of gifts available.

This was a gift from our son and daughter a 3 night break. It was one of the best gifts we have had. We loved this place and would love to come again. Our bedroom was huge with beautiful views of the loch. Very clean and a beautiful bathroom. There was a sitting area so we could enjoy the view in a morning while having a cup of tea. The breakfast was amazing, lots of choice. We enjoyed the living area. Very comfortable and a friendly atmosphere. Snacks available were very nice and reasonably priced. We loved every minute. Thank you claire and team.

Tips:

We came for the Jacobite train experience as I’m a massive Harry Potter fan. This was brilliant. Fish and chips in Mallaig were expensive though. 12 pounds!! We loved Loch Ness. The boat trip is a must. Lovely cafes here too. We tended to eat at lunchtime at cafes and have a snack at hotel when we got back so can’t recommend anywhere for evening meal.

One word, superb !! Fantastic location, amazing views and so peaceful, awesome welcome and so friendly, our room and the facilities were perfect and the breakfast was out of this world. Nothing was too much trouble, we were made to feel more like friends than guests, we can't wait to go back later in the year.

Tips:

The best advice i can give is speak to Claire the owner, who gives very knowledgeable information of local areas and places of interest so you have fantastic and memorable days out.

I have already told the Scottish Travel Society about Creag Mhor Lodge, and highly recommended it to them. We loved the fact that although the Lodge is old, and has the original beautiful wood floors and trim, you also have modern facilities. Clare the owner/operator, is a wonderful hostess, and her staff are all very friendly, and you can tell they love what they are doing. Over all, we really enjoyed our visit, and if we ever come back this way, we will not hesitate to stay at the Lodge again

Tips:

We were only there for one night, and just ate at the Lodge, but we found the meals to be absolutely delicious. The next morning we were on our way over to Inverness, so didn’t have anytime for sightseeing around the area. Clare is very knowledgeable about the area, and will suggest possible side trips, and things to see and do

What a fabulous bed and breakfast. Claire is a great host and readily provides information about the area the house and anything else you need. There is a great whiskey bar where you can sample whiskeys you might never find anywhere else. The rooms are very large and comfortable with everything you need. If you do not want to venture out after a long day of travel bar bites are available. We had a cheeseboard BLT sandwiches and a pizza which were delicious. The full breakfast is fabulous including the scones which are handmade by Claire and her staff. The view across the main road is awesome!

Very welcoming team giving a good feeling from the start. Old sandstone building has been well maintained. Good parking area. Room clean and well appointed. Room’s rear view of trees and sloping banking did not put me off, in fact it made for a quiet atmosphere. Comfortable lounge area looks out over the loch to a spectacular view of the mountains. Dining room well set out with good selection of breakfast foods and attentive staff. All in all very good experience and hope to book again on future visits however, I expect the lodge is very popular and may be busy due to location. Won’t stop me try though.

Incredible victorian b and b in Northern Scotland. Breathtaking views and the perfect lounge with a bar and fireplace for relaxing anytime of day. The most extensive scotch selection of any hotel or restaurant we visited and the absolute best experience of all 4 places we stayed in Scotland over the week. We look forward to our next visit.

Tips:

Ideally this is meant for travellers with their own car but still walkable from bus stops etc. You need to travel to reataurants but there are some great local eats about 15 to 20 mins on foot. Creag Mohr Lodge had a dynamite breakfast buffet and you wont likely need lunch aftet that. They do some samdwiches and a cheeseboard at the lounge and they are delish and quite inexpensive too, so there are on site options.

Clare is a very warm person and made us feel very welcome. Room 8 was spacious and comfortable with a great view. Glazed to cut out road noise. The breakfast was excellent-,the yogurt pots/ home made scones were particularly good. Quality sausage and bacon in the cooked breakfast. Attentive service from the waitress. Guest living room comfortable and cosy with the log burner. Shame there was not evening food offered - but the local restaurants were good.

Tips:

Ate at Loch Levan hotel and four seasons restaurant-,both very good. Went to Glenfinnan to photo the steam train on the viaduct and got on the steam train at Fort William the next day. Did the walk to the waterfall at Glen Nevis. Sturdy boots required.

Superb Hotel, in a superb location. Very comfortable and very friendly, efficient staff/ owner. A later cut off for breakfast than 0900 would be good, especially when on Holliday. Breakfast selection was very well worth getting up,early for though. Huge appetising selection.

Tips:

My wife Iona and I ate at the Loch Even Seafood Cafe on Tuesday. Best seafood meal I have ever had. Iona' s meal was also fantastic. She said the Cullen Skink was best she has had in a resturaunt. Loads and loads of things to do and see, but you can also sit in the very, very comfortable lounge and relax by the wood burner and have a fine bar snack and select a Dram from the very extensive collection. I'd recommend trying the cheeseboard.

We stayed in the family room, it was very neat and the bathroom was huge. Very fun toilet! Lots of stairs though. Which was not an issue for us. Our hosts were fabulous, they made us dinner reservations and provided us with knowledge about things to do in the area. Superb Scotch collection which my husband very much enjoyed. Our hosts were also very knowledgeable about Scotch. Lovely breakfast, buffet style. This B&B was very charming with beautiful views of the Loch and hillside. Conveniently located near Fort William. We enjoyed our stay.

Tips:

If you want to ride the Jacobite train book long in advance. We stayed here to prepare us to ride the train in the morning and despite being to the train station hours early to buy tickets, it was sold out. They advetise a limited number of tickets available each morning but that is not always the case. I was very disappointed but found many other things to do so it was not a wasted day.

Clair was just lovely. Quiet at first (maybe busy?) and then warmed up and was very fun and helpful. We had clean, sweet rooms with all the needed amenities. She helped us plan our trip route to Skye and made the recommendation and booked the ferry from Maileg (sp?) to Skye. Great suggestion which we thoroughly enjoyed. We had a lot of fun taking advantage of her extensive scotch tasting collection and it was great to not have to drive home after we tasted so many yummy scotches. Breakfast was also sizable and delicious. The main sitting room was very warm and cozy and had a great view of the lake. We loved our stay and would stay again. Thank you Clair for such a nice stay.

Tips:

We LOVED the whiskey bar and it's cozy couches, crackling fireplace, and relaxing atmosphere. After a long day of driving and hiking it was a perfect way to spend the evening.

Tips:

We had dinner in ft. williams and that was a nice stop with lots of choices. At the lodge, make sure to enjoy the whiskey room. it's so nice.

This place is a "treasure". Clare was the best host anyone could ask for. We joked with her and she had a great wit to joke back with us. The view was great, the rooms were clean and the pub like bar was wonderful to just sit/relax and taste good Scottish Whiskey. The only bad part is we were only there for 1 night, as we would have liked to stay longer to enjoy Clare, the accommodations and area. Definitely will stay here again.

Fabulous location overlooking the loch. Spacious room with King size bed, which was very comfortable. Bathroom also spacious and well appointed but water pressure was poor (wasn't game to wash my hair). Breakfast was a serve yourself buffet with a good range of options.

Tips:

We received a recommendation for a local seafood restaurant 10 minutes drive away on the edge of the loch - and the staff at Creag Mhor volunteered to and arranged a table for us. The restaurant was fabulous!

Our accommodation at the Lodge was one of our favorites, during our entire 3 week trip! The facilities were terrific. The improvements you're planning will only augment what you already have to offer. Our dinner was delicious and service was friendly. An additional dining room attendant might be considered. Also, we had said to ourselves that if you bill it as "simple, fresh Scottish comfort food", it will be even more well received by finicky guests. The next time we're in the area, we will definitely visit again!

Amazing location on the bank of the beautiful Loch Linnhe in western Scotland. Stately old manor home turned into a very pretty, comfortable, clean and welcoming B & B. The new owner Claire has only been there for a few months and plans to do some improvements over the winter months to make it even better! She or her daughter Rebecca were always available from morning to evening after-dinner drinks at the bar and couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful, from finding us a good dinner place with live music to organizing the taxi for us and getting ice for my daughters sore finger. Just marvelous.

Gotta say - location is one key that made my stay memorably - the other the friendliness of everybody there - owners and staff and the room itself - despite not having a view over the Loch it was spacious and the waters edge is just a short 1 min walk away down the stairs - one can see it from the well stocked bar...I certainly would stay here again - and most likely will as I intend to spend more time in the area.

Love this wonderful B&B.. Weve visited for several years & love the location with many very interesting things to do within an hours drive. The rooms are well appointed, clean and the beds amazingly comfortable. There is a beautiful large lounge with many comfortable chairs & setee & when needed a roaring fire, and adjacent bar. Clare is experimenting with evening meals which is very welcome, although there are also good facilities nearby. Very good value for money and the staff are very welcoming and unfailingly cheerful. Can’t rate it highly enough.

We hit the jackpot when we booked our stay at Creag Mhor. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The room was spacious and comfortable; the view was 2nd to none; and the staff was so friendly you'd think you'd known them for years. Claire was the perfect hostess, and Victoria was just as helpful and attentive as could be. There were other staff members whose names I didn't get that were equally helpful. This was hands down our favorite place we stayed at in our 2 weeks in Scotland. We will absolutely stay at Creag Mhor again when we come back to Scotland. Almost forgot to mention the pub / lounge area at Creag Mhor. What a wonderful and idyllic pub...so cozy and warm. And the bar keep was helpful and friendly.

Tips:

The restaurant at Loch Leven hotel was very good but was a little too fancy for us. The restaurant at the Onich hotel was very tasty with a more relaxed atmosphere, which is exactly the kind of place we like.

Great stop off if heading north to the highland or islands or to visit this gateway to some of Scotland’s finest natural wonders. Lovely old house on the shore with great views. Spacious rooms but no lift. Lovely comfortable lounge and bar. New owners (five weeks) trying hard and succeeding.

Tips:

Loch Leven seafood cafe, 10 minutes driver away has its own fishing boat and is awash with fresh shellfish. Simply served in simple surroundings, as it should be. Book to be safe as it’s very popular and rightly so.

Claire has built an excellent team of staff to give the Lodge a family feel. I was climbing in Glencoe conducting a wedding in some challenging conditions and we were pleasantly surprised to find some Thorntons mini caramel bites in our room on our return. Just what we needed! If you want to bring back a takeaway then Claire lets you use the dining room to enjoy it.

Tips:

Laroch in Balachulish perfect for evening meal - suggest you book in advance. Next door is Quarrier's Fish and Chip shop - highly recommend the fishcakes and battered sausage and other customers commented on the pizzas. Options to sit in or takeaway. For the healthy option a challenging walk up to the Lost/Hidden Valley in Glencoe is worth the effort - takes about an hour and a quarter. A trip over the Connal Ferry and a drive down to the Boathouse in Kingairloch for lunch or coffee and cake is not to be missed - stunning view and a lovely circular run.

So many positives here! Claire was warm, welcoming and always available from first contact to the hug goodbye. The lodge was the best night sleep, warm and cozy with great updated bathroom. The lounge and bar were just as welcoming and relaxing. Breakfast was full of variety and very filling. The location is picturesque; as well as, close to what appears to be great hiking and backpacking trails.

Tips:

Ballachulich was nearest town with just a couple of spots to shops - a gift and visitor center and a co-op (grocery). Be prepared for breathe taking views from deep enchanting woods. And bring hiking shoewear! There’s an ice hiking center in the same town if your an avid climber. A very good family friendly restaurant is located off the beaten path called Cladacaig Inn (cant remember the correct spelling). Take your time in the area!

A really lucky find. All the trappings of a 'country house' hotel at a very affordable price. Situated on the loch-side with stunning views from a comfortable and well-appointed lounge, which has a bar with an impressive range of malt whiskies to choose from. Staff were friendly and welcoming and also keen to ensure that guests' needs are fulfilled. The room was perfect and the hotel's situation ensured a quiet night's sleep. Evening meals are not yet available but I believe that the new management may be considering that. Nonetheless, the range of choices and quality of offerings for breakfast is excellent and worth looking forward to. Great value for the money and highly recommended.

A wonderfully situated hotel with a breathtaking view of the lake and the mountains! Our booked room was very large and had a big bathroom. The room was very clean and very tastefully furnished. Since we had to leave very early, the nice man at the reception offered to pack us some small things for breakfast. A great service and we enjoyed the little things on the return trip! We would come back anytime!

Tips:

Around Fort William there is so much to see that it would blow up the frame to enumerate everything. As a hint maybe Glenfinnan, hike at Ben Nevis and a trip to the island Skye is also highly recommended! Of course, the mysterious Loch Ness is always worth a visit.
